Q11093 - HOWTO: Obtain and install the service pack for supported versions of Commence

Summary
This article contains instructions for downloading and installing the latest Commence service pack. Note that a different service pack is available for each supported version of Commence. Be sure to download the correct one for your version.

More Information
When running Commence in a workgroup apply the service pack at the server first, then apply the same service pack on each client.

  1. See the 'Related External Links' section below for a shortcut to the download page.

  2. You will be prompted for your serial number and updated contact information. The email address will be used to notify you of any additional updates as soon as they become available.

  3. Note: If you enter a server serial number you will also be required to enter the Server Authorization Key that was provided when you purchased the software or additional licenses. Please refer to the related knowledgebase article 'Q11092 - INFO: Preparation Tips for Commence RM(d) Service Pack Release' for more information about how to locate your serial number and alpha key.

  4. Click Submit. A confirmation page will be displayed indicating the version of Commence you have currently installed. If this is correct, click the link to download the service pack for your version of Commence.

  5. Save the file to your Desktop. Take note of the filename so that you can find it later. For example, the file is named RM31ALL.EXE for Commence RM Designer 3.1 versions.

  6. Restart your computer and verify that all applications including Commence, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word are closed.

  7. Double-click the file located on the Desktop. The Install Shield wizard will uncompress the service pack files on your computer. 

  8. Read the End-User Software License Agreement (EUSLA). If you agree to the terms of the EUSLA, click Yes and then click Next to continue.

  9. The next screen will verify if setup has gathered enough information about your current settings. Click Next to begin applying the service pack to your computer.

The service pack worked well for me. Have one client that wont take it but Im having Norton issues on that machine and must manually uninstall NAV, then I think the service pack will work. Chris V Approved: Wednesday, March 29, 2006
