Q11164 - HOWTO: Disable Internet Explorer Add-Ons Temporarily

Summary

Sometimes add-ons can cause your computer to slow down or stop responding. If you suspect an add-on may be causing performance problems, you can temporarily disable all the add-ons without removing them.

More Information

In Windows click Start->All Programs-> Accessories->System Tools and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). This will start internet explorer without any add-ons.

If the performance issues improve then one of your add-ons may be incompatible with the CRM system. Launch Internet Explorer normally. Using trial and error, turn off just one add-on using the steps below and restart Internet Explorer. If that has no effect try disabling another one until you determine which one caused the conflict. Once isolated, that add-on should be uninstalled or permanently disabled.

Use the steps below to manage your add-ons.

  • In Internet Explorer, click Tools->Manage Add-ons.
  • Below “Show” click All Add-ons. Select the add-on you want to disable, and then click Disable.
  • Disable all the add-ons you do not want and Done.
