Q11094 - INFO: Verifying the RM(d) SP1 service pack is installed properly

Summary
This article discusses methods for verifying you are running the RM(d) SP1 release of Commence indicating the service pack has been applied properly.

Verifying the Version Number
The simplest method is to take note of the version information.

  1. While running Commence, select Help - About to view the version and service pack level. There are various supported versions; all properly updated versions will show a service pack level of '(d) SP1' after the version number. For example, RM 3.1(d) SP1.
  2. Alternatively, you can check the specific version and build number of the program executable. To do this select Help - System Information and use the drop-down list to display "Version Information". The latest service pack will show a commence.exe version number ending in '.95'. (e.g. 7.1.1.95)

Verifying Synchronization of New Items

The next method is to perform any of the basic synchronization tests listed below.

  • Add a new item that can easily be tracked, such as a test appointment with your name.  Wait one or two sync intervals, then verify the item is visible on the Commence Server.
  • Open an existing item that is currently connected to items in other categories, such as an appointment linked to an account and one or more contacts. Use the Edit - Copy Item command to duplicate the appointment. TIP: Be sure to rename the new item to include the word 'TEST' so that you can easily remove it later. Wait one or two sync intervals, then verify the item is visible on the Commence Server with all the original connections.
  • For standalone users who are not part of a workgroup, use the File - Sync Link Out command to create a test remote database. Refer to the User's Guide for additional information about how to use sync link for the first time.

Applies To

  • Commence RM 3.1(d) SP1
  • Commence RM 3.0(d) SP1
  • Commence RM 2.1(d) SP1
  • Commence CRM Application Suite (all versions)
