Summary
If the viewbar, menu bar or any toolbar is missing in Commence RM 3.5, it is possible the toolbar has been dragged off the visible part of the screen and docked there.
More Information
To resolve this, clear the registry settings for toolbars and it will return to the default docked position.
Step-by-step instructions follow.

WARNING: The following steps require making changes to the Windows Registry. Incorrectly editing the registry could adversely affect all your Windows applications. If you are unfamiliar with editing the registry, first backup the registry (Registry- Export registry to file). Use this tool at your own risk.
- Close commence
- From the Start button, choose Run. Enter 'Regedit' then click OK to open or run the Windows Registry Editor
- Find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Commence\Databases\7.0
- Scroll through the list of numbered folders until you locate the one for your database. If you are unable to locate your database in the list then follow the instructions in the Workaround section below.
- Once you have the folder number (e.g. 15595453), go up to the key for
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Commence\Commence\7.5\Windows\
- Find the numbered folder on the left side for the database. Delete the entire folder under the windows key.
This will be recreated with the default docked settings when the database is opened. This method can be used to restore any lost toolbar (command bar, agent bar, status bar, etc.)
Workaround
If you are unable to locate your database in the default registry location, you may have a roaming profile. Use the alternate steps below to search for your database in the Windows Registry.
- In Commence, go to File - Open/Manage Database. Find your database in the list, then choose Edit. The database name will be highlighted. Use CTRL+C to copy the name, then choose Cancel, Done, and exit Commence.
- From the Start button, choose Run. Enter 'Regedit' then click OK to open or run the Windows Registry Editor.
- In the Registry Editor, click on My Computer, then select Edit - Find.
- Paste your database name in the Find What: box. Click Find Next to start the search.
- When the folder is found, take note of the folder number (e.g. 15595453).
- Go up to the key for
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Commence\Commence\7.5\Windows\
- Find the numbered folder on the left side for the database. Delete the entire folder under the windows key.
