Problem
An admineng 37 indicates that Commence could not connect to the FTP site. Be sure the FTP site is up and that the communication settings are correct.
Cause
N/A
Solution
These are some of the causes:
- FTP directory does not exist
Go to Customize-Workgroup and recheck the FTP account information that was entered into Commence. Click Enter (not cancel). If you get this message:
{An error was encountered while initializing Windows Internet services. Could not connect to remote FTP site.} then verify that the FTP directory name, user name and password are correct. Replace the URL with an IP address to eliminate possible problem with DNS server.
- Permissions problem
You should check the basic permissions from your client. Run FTPTEST
-or-
Go to a DOS prompt and connect to that FTP directory (used for syncing) manually. Then try putting a binary file up there, then rename it, get it, and delete it.
- NO full-time connection
If the FTP the server isn't always connected (for example, it signs off during down times) this will cause the error 37 at each sync interval as Commence tries to re-connect to the FTP site. Commence can be closed and restarted or syncing enabled from the Help -> Message log command.
- Files are locked on FTP site (IIS 4.0)
symptom: *.UP files can't be deleted without stopping the FTP service.
